Industry Groups Request GAO to investigate Pilot Shortage
Many of the largest and most active aviation industry groups have come together to ask the Government Accountability Office (GAO) be directed to study what many are now calling “the looming pilot shortage.” These industry groups include the Regional Airline Association, National Business Aviation Association, National Air Transportation Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association, National Association of Flight Instructors, and companies such as Boeing, Cape Air, and ExpressJet Airlines.
The groups are requesting that the GAO conduct a study “to gain a better understanding of pilot supply and demand and its potential effects on the U.S. aviation industry and the U.S. economy.” Look for potential action on this request in the new Congress next year.
